How to Nail Your Interactive Video Strategy
By Daniel Osei · Interaction Producer · January 2025
Most interactive projects start with the wrong question – “how many branches can we build?” – and end with a maze nobody finishes. Strategy-first productions flip that: they start with the viewer’s one decision, and let every hotspot, branch and ending serve it. Here’s the framework we use.
Give the film one decision
A film that asks everything decides nothing. Pick the single choice that matters most – which product fits, which plan to book, which path to learn – and make it the gravitational center of every branch. Secondary interactions are fine, but they orbit; they don’t compete.
Structure follows the doubt
Viewers arrive with objections in a predictable order: is this for me, how does it work, can I trust you, what does it cost, what now? Order your branches to answer those in sequence – hook, proof paths, pricing hotspot, checkout ending – and drop-off falls without a single extra shoot day.
Measure the decision, not the views
Views are vanity until viewers choose. Instrument the one decision from day one: branch splits, hotspot taps, checkout starts per path. When the numbers move, you’ll know which scene earned it – and when they don’t, you’ll know exactly which branch to re-cut.
